Welcome to the Heart Chakra ~ Anahata

In this instalment you will learn about the signs of a balanced and imbalanced Heart Chakra and discover ways to help keep your body in harmony and at ease. Always trust in your intuition, take only the information that feels right for you and leave the rest to one side. The Heart Chakra

The Heart Chakra is located in the centre of your chest. It is your chakra of love and compassion for self and for others. Filling you with trust, harmony, faithfulness and adventure. Connecting you to everyone and everything around you, and to being in the present moment. The Heart Chakra is represented by the colours green & rose and by the element air.

Signs of a Balanced Heart Chakra

When your Heart Chakra is balanced, you are able to form healthy relationships and can show compassion and empathy to others. You are generous, trusting, kind and respectful. You easily let go of hurt feelings and open your heart to new experiences with love, kindness and understanding.

Signs of an Imbalanced Heart Chakra

When your Heart Chakra is imbalanced, you may be possessive, have a fear of rejection and form dysfunctional relationships. You can feel isolated and have a hard time forgiving others. You might be narrow-minded, have poor boundaries and lack empathy. You may have an unloving and uncaring attitude and feel undeserving of love. You can display anti-social behaviour and keep your feelings bottled up. You might suffer from high blood pressure, heart disease or chest, lung and respiratory disorder.

Questions for your Heart Chakra

These are some questions you may wish to ask yourself:

Do I have a fear of rejection?

Did I suffer rejection as a child, or in previous relationships?

Why do I feel undeserving of love?

Have I set clear boundaries within my relationships?

Why do I stay in dysfunctional relationships?

Do I openly give love and accept love?

Why do I feel so isolated?

Heart Chakra Guided Meditation

State out loud or quietly to yourself: “I am open to receive messages and guidance.” Allow any thoughts, memories or emotions to rise to the surface with little resistance. If any thoughts are persistent, simply state, “I acknowledge you, thank you,” and bring your focus back to your breath. Once you have finished listening to the guided meditation, take a moment to sit and reflect on your experience.

Journal

Write down anything that came up during the guided meditation – thoughts, memories, sensations, feelings and emotions.

Here are some questions you may wish to ask yourself.

* How did I feel during this session?

* Did I experience a sense of hurt or pain?

* Did any memories of rejection come up?

* If so, how did they make me feel emotionally?

* How can I become more open to receiving love from others?

* What can I do to start accepting and loving myself more?

* How can I start to build my confidence and positive connections with others?

* What do I need to do to create a more creative and pleasurable life for myself?


Referring back to the 'Signs of a Balanced Heart Chakra’ and 'Signs of an Imbalanced Heart Chakra’, write down anything that applies/resonates with you. Be completely honest with yourself.


Look back through your journal at notes you first made in "Introduction - A beginners Guide to Chakra Balancing." to see if anything resonates with the Heart Chakra. Take your time to focus on any issues. How would you advise your friend if they were to have had these same issues? Write this down. Often, we already have the answers. Always seek professional help if needed.


Spend at least three days, preferably more, focussing on your Heart Chakra, journaling anything that comes up over the days ahead. Remember, you cannot change your past, so what can you do to create changes as you move forward?


Below, you will find some ways to help support a healthy and balanced Heart Chakra, which in turn will help to bring more harmony to your overall well-being.

Feeding your Heart Chakra

A lot of people shy away from green fruit and vegetables, but out of all our food, green is the best for our overall health. Do you enjoy eating your greens, or do you push them to one side. What will you try this week?


*Kiwi, apples, grapes, cucumbers, avocado and lime.

*Spinach, zucchini, brussel sprouts, broccoli, kale, peas, asparagus, beans, peppers and green cabbage

*Add green herbs, such as rosemary, thyme and basil


As you are eating your green food, imagine they are healing your body, with every bite. You can also state ‘I am sending love to my Heart Chakra. I choose to heal my body.’ Try creating a mantra that really resonates with you.

Essential Oils for the Heart Chakra Sweet Marjoram, Geranium, Rose, Neroli, Chamomile, Eucalyptus can be used to support the healing of your Heart Chakra. Lavender oil can also be used for all chakras.

Add a few drops to a room diffuser, to release the essential oils into the air. Mix with a carrier oil and gently rub onto your pulse points - wrist, inside elbows and behind your ears. Gently massage into your breastbone and your arms.

Light a green, pink or white candle to bring focus to your Heart Chakra. These can be scented or unscented. You could also use incense sticks or room sprays.

Crystals for the Heart Chakra

Malachite, Rose Quartz, Unakite, Green Aventurine and Green Chalcedony works beautifully with the Heart Chakra. As always, Clear Quartz can be used to amplify the affects of these crystals or used on its own.

You can hold a crystal in your hand or place it on or near your heart chakra, whilst meditating and anytime you need to focus. If you do not have crystals, you can visualise or imagine green light surrounding you and flowing through you. Special stones or pebbles can be used instead of a crystal. It is always about your positive intentions.

Things to do to boost the Heart Chakra

*Look for green all around you.

*Go for a hike.

*Buy a plant to take care of, for your home or workplace.

*Wear green clothing, accessories and jewellery.

*Carry a green or pink crystal in your bag or pocket.

*Spend a little extra time with loved ones.

*Laugh!

*Give yourself permission to feel.

*Find a way to help someone out each day.

*Be kind to yourself and speak kindly of yourself.

*Try yoga, dance or an aerobics class.

*Practice breathing techniques!

*Write down 10 reasons to be thankful and show gratitude.

*Enjoy a hand massage

*Treat yourself to a full body massage

*Allow yourself to receive love.

*Listen to Heart Chakra meditations

*Repeat self-love affirmations

*Do a loving kindness meditation

*Practice assertiveness and setting healthy boundaries.

*Listen to Solfeggio frequency 636 Hz to bring emotional balance and positive energy

*Listen to Cosmic Octave 136.10 Hz to regain inner peace and restore balance.

*Put on a green or pink abstract background video on your tv screen or laptop.

*Do some gardening or rearrange house plants

Positive Affirmations

Positive affirmations should be said as often as possible, even if you don’t believe them to be true. Say them in your head or out loud or you can write them down. If you catch yourself saying something negative about yourself, create an affirmation which states the opposite and repeat it three times. Words are powerful. If you’re able to, stand in front of a mirror, look yourself in the eyes and tell yourself how amazing you are. You might feel uncomfortable, and some unwanted emotions may arise. If this happens, acknowledge it with little resistance and write it down in your journal.


Use any statements from ‘Balanced Heart Chakra’ to create positive affirmations. You can make up your own statements. Statements can begin with the words “I am…”, “I have…” or “I can…”, although they don’t have to. As long as you use the present tense, as if it is already happening, it will have the same results.


*I love and accept myself unconditionally.

*I openly give love and receive love.

*I easily forgive myself and others.

*My heart is filled with joy and gratitude.

*I am worthy of kindness, love and respect.

*I respect myself and set healthy boundaries.

*I am ready to receive love.

*I choose to be free and happy

*I am worthy of love and abundance.

*I am free to be my authentic self, at all times.

Chakra balancing is an ongoing part of your emotional, mental, spiritual and physical well-being. Focus fully on your Heart Chakra for at least three days. Do as many of the activities as you can, listen to the Heart Chakra guided meditation at least once a day and have fun bringing colour and creativity into your life. Your body will thank you for it!
