In this instalment you will learn about the signs of a balanced and imbalanced Third Eye Chakra and discover ways to help keep your body in harmony and at ease. Third Eye Chakra

The Third Eye Chakra, also referred to as the Brow Chakra, is located in the centre of your forehead, just above your eyebrows. It is your chakra of intuition, thoughts and psychic abilities. Filling you with truth, dreams and an openness to new ideas and ideals. Connecting you to spiritual awareness. The Third Eye Chakra is represented by the colour indigo and the elements light & thought.

Signs of a Balanced Third Eye Chakra

When your Third Eye Chakra is balanced, you are able to use both feelings and logic to make big decisions in your life. You trust your inner wisdom and you are open to new ideas and ideals. You are able to experience clear thought, self-reflection, mindfulness and live in the present moment. You have a deep understanding of the world and easily face life’s challenges.

Signs of an Imbalanced Third Eye Chakra

When your Third Eye Chakra is imbalanced, you may be close-minded, untrusting, cynical and too attached to logic. You can struggle to be creative, find it difficult to plan ahead and have feelings of negativity. You may have difficulty concentrating, be out of touch with reality and fantasize excessively. You might suffer from headaches, eye conditions, mental illnesses, anxiety, depression and personality disorder.

Questions for your Third Eye Chakra

These are some questions you may wish to ask yourself:

Do I spend too much time overthinking?

Do I have difficulty concentrating,

Am I out of touch with reality?

Do I overly fantasize?

Are my thoughts and ideas dismissed by others?

Do I struggle to live in the present moment?

Do I trust my inner wisdom?

Am I open to new ideas and ideals?

Third Eye Chakra Guided Meditation

State out loud or quietly to yourself: “I am open to receive messages and guidance.” Allow any thoughts, memories or emotions to rise to the surface with little resistance. If any thoughts are persistent, simply state, “I acknowledge you, thank you,” and bring your focus back to your breath. Once you have finished listening to the guided meditation, take a moment to sit and reflect on your experience.

Journal

Write down anything that came up during the guided meditation – thoughts, memories, sensations, feelings and emotions.

Here are some questions you may wish to ask yourself.

* How did I feel during this session?

* Was I able to concentrate on the meditation?

* How do I usually cope with life’s challenges?

* How open am I to new ideas?

* How do I cope, when making big decisions in my life?

* Do I find it easy to plan ahead?

* In what way am I creative?

* Do I know the difference between thoughts that are fantasy and reality?


Referring back to the 'Signs of a Balanced Third Eye Chakra’ and 'Signs of an Imbalanced Third Eye Chakra’, write down anything that applies/resonates with you. Be completely honest with yourself.


Look back through your journal at notes you first made in "Introduction - A beginners Guide to Chakra Balancing." to see if anything resonates with the Third Eye Chakra. Take your time to focus on any issues. How would you advise your friend if they were to have had these same issues? Write this down. Often, we already have the answers. Always seek professional help if needed.


Spend at least three days, preferably more, focussing on your Third Eye Chakra, journaling anything that comes up over the days ahead. Remember, you cannot change your past, so what can you do to create changes as you move forward?


Below, you will find some ways to help support a healthy and balanced Third Eye Chakra, which in turn will help to bring more harmony to your overall well-being.

Feeding your Third Eye Chakra

How often do you put blue or purple food your plate? Look out for blue and purple fruit and vegetables when you next go shopping and add some to your basket.


*Purple grapes, blueberries, damson plums and figs

*Purple cabbage, purple kale, beetroot, aubergines

*Add purple sage, chive flowers and lavender flowers.


As you are eating your blue/purple food, imagine they are healing your body, with every bite. You can also state ‘I am sending love to my Third Eye Chakra. I choose to heal my body.’ Try creating a mantra that really resonates with you.

Essential Oils for the Third Eye Chakra

Rosemary, Clary Sage, Bay Laurel, Juniper, Melissa and Jasmine are beautiful oils, which can be used to support the healing of your Third Eye Chakra. Lavender oil can also be used for all chakras.

Add a few drops to a room diffuser, to release the essential oils into the air. Mix with a carrier oil and gently rub onto your pulse points - wrist, inside elbows and behind your ears. Gently massage into your forehead and temples.

Light a blue or purple candle to bring focus to your Third Eye Chakra. These can be scented or unscented. If you don’t have blue or purple candles, then a white one will work just as well. You can use incense sticks or room sprays.

Crystals for the Third Eye Chakra

Dark blue and purple crystals can be used to support the Third Eye Chakra. Try using Blue Quartz, Sodalite, Blue Apatite and Labradolite. Clear Quartz can be used for all chakras, either alone or with other crystals to amplify their affects.

You can hold a crystal in your hand or place it on or near your Third Eye Chakra, whilst meditating and anytime you need to focus. If you do not have crystals, you can visualise or imagine indigo light surrounding you. If you have a special pebble or stone, you can use that instead of a crystal. As always, it’s all about your positive intentions.

Things to do to boost the Third Eye Chakra

*Start a dream journal.

*Create a vision board.

*Practice self-reflection.

*Seek out the colours dark blue and purple around you.

*Wear dark blue, indigo or purple clothing, accessories and jewellery.

*Carry a crystal around, in your bag or pocket.

*Focus on an attitude of gratitude.

*Gaze into the night sky, observe the moon and count the stars.

*Observe your thoughts and give yourself daily positive pep talks.

*Start a dream journal and write down your dreams.

*Enjoy a head & face massage

*Read a new book.

*Practice being present.

*Do Third Eye Chakra meditations.

*Repeat positive affirmations

*Try sungazing

*Listen to Solfeggio frequency 852 Hz to awaken intuition and rebalance your spirituality

*Listen to Cosmic Octave 221.23 Hz to support a higher love energy and harmony

*Put on an indigo abstract background video on your tv screen or laptop.

*Practice conscious breathing.

*Work on crossword puzzles.

*Use your imagination and get creative

Positive Affirmations

Positive affirmations should be said as often as possible, even if you don’t believe them to be true. Say them in your head or out loud or you can write them down. If you catch yourself saying something negative about yourself, create an affirmation which states the opposite and repeat it three times. Words are powerful. If you’re able to, stand in front of a mirror, look yourself in the eyes and tell yourself how amazing you are. You might feel uncomfortable, and some unwanted emotions may arise. If this happens, acknowledge it with little resistance and write it down in your journal.


Use any statements from ‘Balanced Third Eye Chakra’ to create positive affirmations. You can make up your own statements. Statements can begin with the words “I am…”, “I have…” or “I can…”, although they don’t have to. As long as you use the present tense, as if it is already happening, it will have the same results.


*I am connected to the wisdom of the universe.

*I have a vivid and powerful imagination.

*I am in touch with my inner guidance.

*I trust my intuition and have clarity in my thoughts.

*I am open to new ideas and ideals.

*Everything I need is within me.

*My thoughts are loving and positive.

*I am the source of my truth.

Chakra balancing is an ongoing part of your emotional, mental, spiritual and physical well-being. Focus fully on your Third Eye Chakra for at least three days. Do as many of the activities as you can, listen to the Third Eye Chakra guided meditation at least once a day and have fun bringing colour and creativity into your life. Your body will thank you for it!
