The Solar Plexus Chakra

The Solar Plexus Chakra is located between your belly button and your breastbone. It is your chakra of self-identity, empowerment and nurturing, filling you with energy, strength, courage, confidence and bravery. Connecting you to your personal power and your intuition. The Solar Plexus chakra is represented by the colour yellow and the element fire.

Signs of a Balanced Solar Plexus Chakra

When your Solar Plexus Chakra is balanced you feel connected to your personal power and confident with who you are. You trust your intuition and inner guidance. You are assertive and have positive self-esteem. You are nurturing, courageous and full of energy. You are patient, have a calm demeanour and embody inner peace.

Signs of an Imbalanced Solar Plexus Chakra

When your Solar Plexus Chakra is imbalanced you may suffer from poor concentration, struggle with making decisions, or have a failing memory. You might suffer from insomnia, lack energy or have difficulty switching off. You may feel a sense of shame, lack courage, suffer from low self-esteem and self-worth, and have difficulty regulating anger, greed and fears. You might suffer from diabetes, eating disorders and digestive disorders.

These are some questions you may wish to ask yourself:

What is causing my low self-esteem?

Where does my lack of confidence stem from?

What might be causing my insomnia?

Why do I have difficulty switching off?

Have other people always made decisions for me?

Why do I find it hard to concentrate?

What is causing my lack of energy?

Solar Plexus Chakra Guided Meditation

Listen to the 10-minute Reiki Solar Plexus Chakra guided meditation. State out loud or quietly to yourself: “I am open to receive messages and guidance.” Allow any thoughts, memories or emotions to rise to the surface with little resistance. If any thoughts are persistent, simply state, “I acknowledge you, thank you,” and bring your focus back to your breath. Once you have finished listening to the guided meditation, take a moment to sit and reflect on your experience.

Journal

Write down anything that came up during the guided meditation – thoughts, memories, sensations, feelings and emotions.

Here are some questions you may wish to ask yourself.

* How did this session make me feel?

* What can I do to start trusting my intuition?

* Is there anything from my past that may have caused my low self-esteem?

* What can I do to start building up my confidence?

* Can I think back to an occasion where I asserted myself in a positive way?

* If so, what was the situation and how did it make me feel emotionally?

* What routines can I develop to encourage a more restful sleep?

* Am I a nurturing person?


Referring back to the 'Signs of a Balanced Solar Plexus Chakra’ and 'Signs of an Imbalanced Solar Plexus Chakra’, write down anything that applies/resonates with you. Always be completely honest with yourself.


Look back through your journal at notes you first made in "Introduction - A beginners Guide to Chakra Balancing." to see if anything resonates with the Solar Plexus Chakra. Take your time to focus on any issues. How would you advise your friend if they were to have had these same issues? Write this down. We often already have the answers. Always seek professional help if needed.


Spend at least three days, preferably more, focussing on your Solar Plexus Chakra, journaling anything that comes up over the days ahead. Remember, you cannot change your past, so what can you do to create changes as you move forward?


Below, you will find some ways to help support a healthy and balanced Solar Plexus Chakra, which in turn will help to bring more harmony to your overall well-being.

Feeding your Solar Plexus Chakra

When did you last eat any yellow fruit or vegetables? Do you actively choose to add colour to your plate? If your meals lack colour, see what you can add to brighten it up a little.

Consider including some of the following:


*Banana, pineapple, honeydew melon, yellow tomatoes and star fruit

*Chickpeas, parsnips, peppers, baby corn and sweetcorn

*Add some whole grains - oats, rice, spelt and lentils.

*Include warming spices such as turmeric, ginger, cinnamon and cumin.


As you are eating your yellow food, imagine they are healing your body, with every bite. You can also state ‘I am sending love to my Solar Plexus Chakra. I choose to heal my body.’ Try creating a mantra that really resonates with you.

Essential Oils for the Solar Plexus Chakra

Eucalyptus, Ginger, Grapefruit, Lemon, Rosemary and Mandarin are beautiful warming oils, which can be used to support the healing of your Solar Plexus Chakra. Also remember, Lavender oil can be used for all chakras.

Add a few drops to a room diffuser, to release the essential oils into the air. Mix with a carrier oil and gently rub onto your pulse points - wrist, inside elbows and behind your ears. Gently massage your upper abdomen.

Burn a yellow or white candle, to bring your focus to your Solar Plexus Chakra. These can be either scented or unscented. Also consider using incense sticks and room sprays.

Crystals for the Solar Plexus Chakra

Yellow crystals are used to support your Solar Plexus Chakra. You can use Citrine, Yellow Aventurine, Yellow Jasper and Sunstone. Clear Quartz can also be used, either on its own or to amplify the affects of the other crystals.

You can hold a crystal in your hand or place it on or near your Solar Plexus Chakra, whilst meditating and anytime you need to focus. If you do not have crystals, you can visualise or imagine yellow light surrounding you and flowing through you. You may wish to use a special pebble or stone instead of a crystal. It’s always about your positive intentions.

Things to do to boost the Solar Plexus Chakra

*Go out in the sun and even if it's not sunny still go out and walk about.

*Look for yellow all around you.

*Carry a yellow crystal in your bag or pocket .

*Bring home yellow flowers.

*Make time for rest.

*Wear yellow clothing, accessories and jewellery.

*Take things slowly.

*Smile more often!

*Smile at random people and don’t be discouraged if they don’t smile back.

*Track the sun from sunrise to sunset.

*Get your vitamin D level checked.

*Find simple exercises that you will enjoy.

*Try out hula hooping and belly dancing.

*Get a massage, with a focus on your tummy and back.

*Eat a variety of yellow fruit and vegetables.

*Do something that makes you feel brave.

*Watch yellow abstract background videos on your tv screen or laptop. *Listen to Solfeggio frequency 528 Hz to activate intuition and awaken spirituality.

*Listen to Cosmic Octave 126.22 Hz to bring you more happiness and a renewed sense of self-assurance.

*Listen to Solar Plexus guided meditations.

* Write a list of things that brings you happiness and see how many you can tick off over the coming days/weeks

*Repeat Solar Plexus positive affirmations.

Positive Affirmations

Positive affirmations should be said as often as possible, even if you don’t believe them to be true. Say them in your head or out loud or you can write them down. If you catch yourself saying something negative about yourself, create an affirmation which states the opposite and repeat it three times. Words are powerful. If you’re able to, stand in front of a mirror, look yourself in the eyes and tell yourself how fabulous you are. You might feel uncomfortable, and some unwanted emotions may arise. If this happens, acknowledge it with little resistance and write it down in your journal.


Use any statements from ‘Balanced Solar Plexus Chakra’ to create positive affirmations. You can make up your own statements. Statements can begin with the words “I am…”, “I have…” or “I can…”, although they don’t have to. As long as you use the present tense, as if it is already happening, it will have the same results.


*I accept myself unconditionally.

*I stand strong in my personal power.

*I am at peace with myself.

*I am confident in who I am.

*I am filled with joy and embody inner peace.

*I am motivated, persistent, and successful.

*I have the power to create the life I want.

*I am focused on the present.

*I am enough.

*I am in control of my life and my decisions.

Chakra balancing is an ongoing part of your emotional, mental, spiritual and physical well-being. Focus fully on your Solar Plexus Chakra for at least three days, or even longer. Do as many of the activities as you can, listen to the Solar Plexus Chakra guided meditation at least once a day and have fun bringing colour and creativity into your life. Your body will thank you for it!
