Welcome to the Sacral Chakra ~ Svadhishthana
In this instalment you will learn about the signs of a balanced and imbalanced Sacral Chakra and discover ways to help keep your body in harmony and at ease. Always trust in your intuition, take only the information that feels right for you and leave the rest to one side. If you haven't already done so, you might want to start off by reading "Introduction - A beginners Guide to Chakra Balancing."

The Sacral Chakra
The Sacral Chakra is located between the belly button and the perineum. It is your chakra of personal control, confidence, sensuality, sexuality, pleasure and self-worth. Connecting you to independence, creativity and your relationship to others. The Sacral Chakra is represented by the colour orange and the element water.

Signs of a Balanced Sacral Chakra
When your Sacral Chakra is balanced you feel emotionally stable, know your self-worth and can express yourself freely. You feel deserving of an abundant, creative and pleasurable life. You have a positive attitude and are receptive to change. You assert your independence and have positive connections with others. You have a strong sense of personal control, and you are confident in your sexually and sensuality.

Signs of an Imbalanced Sacral Chakra
With an imbalanced Sacral Chakra, you can lack personal control and have fears around your sexuality. You may suffer from feelings of guilt and shame. You can lack confidence and positive connections with others. You might be emotionally unstable, emotionally dependent and have addiction issues. You might suffer from lower back pain, kidney and urinary tract infections and disease or gynaecological problems and disorders.

Questions for your Sacral Chakra
These are some questions you may wish to ask yourself:
Why can I not express myself freely?
Was I made to feel ashamed of my body or my sexuality?
Have I experience unhealthy sexual relationships?
Why am I emotionally dependent on others?
Why do I lack positive connections with others.
What are my fears around my sexuality?
Did someone close to me poke fun about my body?
Sacral Chakra Guided Meditation
Listen to the 10-minute Reiki Sacral Chakra guided meditation.
State out loud or quietly to yourself: “I am open to receive messages and guidance.” Allow any thoughts, memories or emotions to rise to the surface with little resistance. If any thoughts are persistent, simply state, “I acknowledge you, thank you,” and bring your focus back to your breath. Once you have finished listening to the guided meditation, take a moment to sit and reflect on your experience.

Journal
Write down anything that came up during the guided meditation – thoughts, memories, sensations, feelings and emotions.
Here are some questions you may wish to ask yourself.
* How did I feel during this session?
* Did I experience a sense of shame?
* Did any painful memories come up?
* If so, how did they make me feel emotionally?
* Is there anything from my past that needs to be healed?
* What can I do to start creating positive feelings about my body?
* If my personal needs are not being met, what can I do to change that?
* What do I need to do in order to create positive relationships with others?
Referring back to the 'Signs of a Balanced Sacral Chakra’ and 'Signs of an Imbalanced Sacral Chakra’, write down anything that applies/resonates with you. Be completely honest with yourself.
Look back through your journal at notes you first made in "Introduction - A beginners Guide to Chakra Balancing." to see if anything resonates with the Sacral Chakra. Take your time to focus on any issues. How would you advise your friend if they were to have had these same issues? Write this down. Often, we already have the answers. Always seek professional help if needed.
Spend at least three days, preferably more, focussing on your Sacral Chakra, journaling anything that comes up over the days ahead. Remember, you cannot change your past, so what can you do to create changes as you move forward?
Below, you will find some ways to help support a healthy and balanced Sacral Chakra, which in turn will help to bring more harmony to your overall well-being.

Feeding your Sacral Chakra
How often do you think about the colours on your plate? Do you try out new flavours and eat food that are in season? See if you can add a selection of orange fruit and vegetables to your weekly shopping list.
*Oranges, peaches, apricots, mangoes, papaya, physalis and mandarins.
* Carrots, sweet potato, pumpkin, squash.
* Add seeds - flax, poppy, sesame, pumpkin and sunflower seeds.
As you are eating your orange food, imagine they are healing your body, with every bite. You can also state ‘I am sending love to my Sacral Chakra. I choose to heal my body.’ Try creating a mantra that really resonates with you.

Essential Oils for the Sacral Chakra
Sandalwood, Ylang Ylang, Sweet Orange, Cardamom, Bergamot and Jasmine are beautiful oils, which can be used to support the healing of your Sacral Chakra. Lavender oil can also be used for all chakras.
Add a few drops to a room diffuser, to release the essential oils into the air. Mix with a carrier oil and gently rub onto your pulse points - wrist, inside elbows and behind your ears. Gently massage into your lower back and lower abdomen.
Light an orange candle to bring focus to your Sacral Chakra. These can be scented or unscented. If you don’t have an orange candle, then a white one will work just as well. You could also try using incense sticks or room sprays.

Crystals for the Sacral Chakra
Orange crystals are used for the Sacral Chakra. Try using Orange Calcite, Carnelian, Orange Selenite and Moonstone. Moonstone comes in a variety of colours and all colours can be used to support the Sacral Chakra. White moonstone is a very powerful stone and can be used for releasing unwanted symptoms of the menstrual cycle, the menopause and postmenopause.
Clear Quartz is another powerful crystal and can be used for all chakras, either alone or with other crystals to amplify their affects.
You can hold a crystal in your hand or place it on or near your Sacral Chakra, whilst meditating and anytime you need to focus. If you do not have crystals, you can visualise or imagine orange light surrounding you. If you have a special pebble or stone, you can use that instead of a crystal. As always, it’s all about your positive intentions.

Things to do to boost the Sacral Chakra
*Seek out the colour orange, throughout the day.
*Wear orange clothing, accessories and jewellery.
*Carry an orange crystal in your bag or pocket to help keep you focused.
*Take part in activities in or around water.
*Go for a swim
*Turn your bathroom into a spa.
*Add Epsom salt and essential oils to the water and enjoy a long sensual soak.
*Book a spa day.
*Explore different creative forms of self-pleasure, without guilt or shame.
*Sing and dance to your favourite music.
*Listen to the sounds of rain or waterfalls
*Eat orange fruit and vegetables.
*Express yourself creatively by starting an art or craft project.

*Enjoy a back & tummy massage.
*Listen to Solfeggio frequency 417Hz to help remove negative energies.
*Listen to Cosmic Octave 210.42 Hz to connect more deeply with yourself.
*Put on an orange abstract background video on your tv screen or laptop.
*Wear clothing that makes you feel sexy.
*Listen to Sacral Chakra mediations.
*Spend time in environments that brings you joy.
*Journal your feelings.
*Take part in a yoga class.
*Repeat positive affirmations.
*Practice self-care towards your body.

Positive Affirmations
Positive affirmations should be said as often as possible, even if you don’t believe them to be true. Say them in your head or out loud or you can write them down. If you catch yourself saying something negative about yourself, create an affirmation which states the opposite and repeat it three times. Words are powerful. If you’re able to, stand in front of a mirror, look yourself in the eyes and tell yourself how amazing you are. You might feel uncomfortable, and some unwanted emotions may arise. If this happens, acknowledge it with little resistance and write it down in your journal.
Use any statements from ‘Balanced Sacral Chakra’ to create positive affirmations. You can make up your own statements. Statements can begin with the words “I am…”, “I have…” or “I can…”, although they don’t have to. As long as you use the present tense, as if it is already happening, it will have the same results.
*I am deserving of others.
*I can express myself freely.
*I love and respect myself.
*I enjoy pleasure in all areas of my life.
*I embrace and celebrate my sexuality.
*I choose fun, joy and play in my daily life.
*I am passionate and creative.
*I honour and respect my body.
*I have meaningful relationships with others.
*I am emotionally balanced and healthy.

Chakra balancing is an ongoing part of your emotional, mental, spiritual and physical well-being. Focus fully on your Sacral Chakra for at least three days. Do as many of the activities as you can, listen to the Sacral Chakra guided meditation at least once a day and have fun bringing colour and creativity into your life. Your body will thank you for it!
